Downloadable games FAQ's
“How does it work” and other questions.
Where is my download link?
If you do not receive your download link within 30 minutes, please check your ‘Spam/Junk’ email folder, as it is possible, (on some email programs) that it has wrongly identified your download link as spam email.
Purchasing your Downloadable Game.
Simply select the game you wish to purchase, by clicking on the Add to Basket” button and then following the checkout process.
This will take you to the ‘PayPal’ web site where you will be asked to fill in your details and select your method of payment. Once ‘PayPal’ has authorized your payment an email will be sent to you with the link to the download files of your purchased game. Should you not receive this email within 30 minutes, please check your ‘Spam email’ folder.
Downloading your game.
Clicking on the link in your email will open a ‘file save’ dialogue, selecting ‘Save’ will download the zip folder to the downloads folder on your hard drive – normally ‘Drive C: Users/your_user_name/downloads’, on windows Vista/7, ‘C:\Documents and Settings\your_user_name\downloads’, on windows xp and ‘Macintosh HD:your_user_name:your_files’, on Mac osx.
The link should look similar to the following, (link edited for security reasons) –
https://www.playmurdermystery.com/xxxxxxx/x.xxx?x=cfc513e31d4e7d392f8cda2718ef21a1
please ensure that you click on the link and do not copy/paste the link into your browsers address bar. Also ensure that you email client is not ‘wrapping’ this link onto another line as this may cause the link not to function correctly. Should you see a list of letters and/or numbers on the following line try widening the view area until you have a complete link.
IMPORTANT: Occasionally the ‘PayPal’ web site may present you with the option – ‘continue’ or ‘Allow’. Should you see this option click on the ‘continue or Allow’ button in order to be directed back to the ‘Thank You” page. Should you not click on this button and ‘end’ the procedure after completing your payment, then do not worry, as we send you an email complete with a link to your download and downloading could not be simpler simply click on the save option and enjoy your game.
Customers not wishing to download the game immediately, simply follow the link contained in the email when you are ready, remember however that this must be done within 30 days of purchase.
How many times can you download the game?
You may download your game up to 10 times within the first 90 days after purchase. Should you need to download it more times than this or after the 30 day period, then simply send us an email, (email address provided on your original ‘order confirmation’ email) complete with you order number, and full details of the game purchased, and we will send you the game via an email attachment – this option is only available for the first 90 days after purchase.
How are the games ‘delivered’? –
The games are delivered to you as a zip folder. This folder is complete with all items required for the game, and can be opened on any computer without the need to purchase additional software to do so.
Inside this folder you will find a number of pdf files –

Macs using OS-X, and Windows XP / vista / windows 7 have a built in unzip program, just click on the folder.
If you are using an older version of these operating systems or do not have / cannot unzip a folder you can use one of the free programs listed below.
Download the program you wish to use and then install it. After that, whenever you encounter a zipped file (a file that ends in “.zip”), just double-click on that file. Your unzip program will automatically open, and you can then choose where you want the unzipped version of that file to be saved on your computer.
That’s it.
